There's a bunch of good stuff on Hendrick, both career facts and anecdotes, in the two-part article "The Living Legend: Ray Hendrick" by Larry Tomar. Part 2 is in Stock Car Racing (ISSN 0734-7340), Volume 25, Number 4, April 1990.
