Ray JordonSlug Jordon – Per WP:COMMONNAME. From this article in The Age - "Jordon grew up in Richmond. His universal nickname Slug (no one aside from loved ones called him Ray) came from an incident at the Puckapunyal military training camp when he was a young man." -- Mattinbgn (talk) 21:43, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Oppose, I mainly recall hearing him called Ray "Slug" Jordan (or is Ray 'Slug' Jordan preferred?) so they would be my preferences. should have redirects in place for all variations. I think the story might be more referring to as a single name, it's Slug, but as a complete name, it's Ray Jordan or Ray "Slug" Jordan. Google tends to agree, not many plain Slug Jordans found without the Ray first.The-Pope (talk) 11:47, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
If the most commonly used name is with both his first name and the nickname, nothing prevents us from moving this to Ray "Slug" Jordon. (Quotation marks are preferred to apostrophes here, per MOS:QUOTEMARKS.) Jafeluv (talk) 10:37, 22 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Neutral The first paragraph deals with the actual name. Then the article can be called "Slug Jordon". However, as of Pope's argument, Jordon is not referred to as "Slug Jordon" without the "Ray" in it most of the time. Therefore, the article could be kept. Hill Crest's WikiLaser (Boom.) • Neutral These comments are interesting. I was around the sports scene in Melbourne at the time of Slug's successes, and that's what I only ever heard him referred to as. Just Slug. Sometimes Slug Jordon. Never Ray, although most (but not all) people knew that was his real name. I don't think it matters all that much for the article, so long as the article makes his nickname clear and there's lots of disambiguation. HiLo48 (talk) 02:55, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
