Sorry I'm a bit late to this - yes, as far as I can tell he was/is Rhodesian, and I had him down as such in 1964 Rand Grand Prix but I didn't notice the discrepancy with the '65 race. David Hodges in the fantastic "A-Z of Grand Prix Cars" talks about Reed's self-built car, the Realpha / RE, as being built in Rhodesia, which also suggests Reed was Rhodesian.
