Communist step up efforts
editIt seems to me that this article is missing the most significant reaction to the coup. At meeting immediately afterwards, the communist leadership decided to switch strategies from "prolonged war" (guerrila war) to "quick victory" (maximum war effort). See Ang, Cheng Guan (2002).
