Game
editI think the "game" section is rather out of place and has very little to do with mecha anime (it's a different medium from anime after all) it might be best to note influences on games like xenosaga etc. but mechwarrior is completely unrelated, the game subsection should probably be moved to the "mecha" article. It's obviously not a complete article but I'm not the one to complete it
Mobile Suit Gundam is pro-war at heart?
editI think the statement that Mobile Suit Gundam is "an anti-war series that is pro-war at heart" is quite unclear as to its exact meaning and could also be considered quite controversial. Given the size, breadth and popularity of the Gundam franchise it is probably inappropriate to make such a simplistic statement about its core morals. Also, it doesn't seem to serve any real purpose within the wider article.
The statement should perhaps be removed, or at least clarified and/or expanded on. Fearthehat 23:40, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I checked older version and it confirm to be vandalism. L-Zwei 05:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Mazinkaiser.jpg
editImage:Mazinkaiser.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Merge info from Mecha.
editMecha article tocuches similar topics to this. --Alexcalamaro (talk) 15:27, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
No. If there would be merging, merge this into Mecha instead. Concept of mecha, as noted in both articles, preceed anime and currently use in many other media as well. L-Zwei (talk) 02:56, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
I think this can work as a stand alone article, but the section on video games isn't appropriate, because the article should be about (Japanese) animation only. That section should be moved to its own article - Mecha in video games -, or merged to Mecha.Cattus talk 17:32, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
I've removed the games section. Will leave a note at Mecha.–Cattus talk 11:10, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- I am going to remove the merge tags.
- They are very old
- Mecha is a term used across multiple genres
- Mecha anime is a subset of the topic and would give undue weight to the article. It is fine as a standalone and is better off where it is.
- There is no need to merge, and no good reason has been given above. Chaosdruid (talk) 10:46, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- I am going to remove the merge tags.
Steambot Chronicles?
editShould the trotmobiles from Steambot Chronicles (a.k.a. Bumpy Trot in Japan) be briefly mentioned? Invmog (talk) 22:29, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Mecha (genre)
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:13, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Mecha anime → Mecha (genre) — Short reason: consistency, Mech (disambiguation) & Yuri (genre). 96.240.34.47 (talk) 17:49, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
- You are also asking for the Mecha article to be moved to the exact same title. Are you planning to merge the two? If not one of the two article will need a different title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.66.190.145 (talk) 23:47, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
- Whoever think Yuri is close to mecha need to has his or her brain check. L-Zwei (talk) 02:39, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Strong oppose this IP user 96.240.34.47 has nominated contradictory move requests, moving this page and Mecha both to Mecha (genre), which is an impossible proposal. See Talk:Mecha for the other rename this person filed. 76.66.195.196 (talk) 03:50, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. Superfluous disambiguations are bad, even if they are for "consistency", which I don't see here regardless. — Gavia immer (talk) 18:06, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- Comment I think the proposer was trying to suggest that Mecha anime should be merged into the article currently at Mecha. Using Wikipedia:Requested moves is not the way to do that. Skinsmoke (talk) 04:46, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Rename to Mecha (genre) 2.0
editReasons why it should be moved is because it is indeed a genre, and a genre that doesn't limit itself to just anime, but also printed media and even live action series. Lucia Black (talk) 16:12, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- How many things that are "mecha" aren't anime though. And "fiction containing robots" doesn't really sound like a genre.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 18:34, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Several manga have been released. And fiction containing yuri is considered yuri, fiction containing science fiction is considered science fiction, and fiction contianing fantasy is considered fantasy. Mecha is more of a subgenre, but a genre nontheless. Lucia Black (talk) 18:41, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Science fiction and fantasy are genres. Mecha usually falls into the former. And yuri is just porn.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 19:01, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- No..yuri is a genre....mecha is widely considered a genre. Lucia Black (talk) 19:15, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- No. Yuri is the word given to lesbian romance stories.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 20:16, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

- There is a genre article already. It's at Mecha. If you want to include manga or other Japanese media in this article, appropriate article names would be Mecha in anime and manga or Mecha in Japan. --Mika1h (talk) 21:16, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Or rather just merge it to the main article anyways. Lucia Black (talk) 01:49, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Bad examples for Evangelion as a deconstruction of mecha anime
editCalling Evangelion a deconstruction of mecha anime tropes seems very wrong when all of the examples of why it is one are also present in the original Mobile Suit Gundam and various other real robot shows that came before it. That sentence either needs better examples or should be removed. I'm in favor of the latter because Evangelion's mecha elements are actually pretty typical, especially since it draws extremely heavily from Space Runaway Ideon.
