Suggestion to change the title to "erythrocytes"

edit

The scientific name for these cells is erythrocytes. They are known as red blood cells, not the other way around. Wikipedia is a scientific source, not a children's coloring book. Lajoswinkler (talk) 19:25, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for the general reader - scientific info is detailed on pages - entry terms preferably use the generally known terms.--Iztwoz (talk) 11:44, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's why we have redirects. Wikipedia is not supposed to promote general ignorance, but keep at it. Lajoswinkler (talk) 19:46, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I thought it might be nice to add the actual Greek to the etymology, e.g.

From Ancient Greek ἐρυθρός (erythrós, “red”), and from Neo-Latin cyta, from Ancient Greek κύτος (kýtos, “vessel, jar”). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.152.1.145 (talk) 13:41, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
