Talk:Red vs. Blue (season 4)
Laughter-discussion (EP59)
editOk I think this needs a talk-page discussion. I strongly believe that it's the Covenant Elite laughing at the end of the episode. My points being:
- Completely different voices: the laughing voice is highpitched, more nasal; Andy's voice is lower and also it's ran thru a voice filter or a radio while the laughing voice isnt. Also note the "LURGH!" of the Elite.
- Voice collision - the voices actually overlap and basically switch rapidly between normal talk and the "manical laughter".
- Volume change - Andy's "Come back in, you're tiring him out" is at constant velocity while the laughing fades in.
Now these might be merely technical but considering the storyline I think it would make much more sense than Andy just screwing around. Also, if you check the most comprehensive RvB transcript site, you can see that others also give the voice to the Elite. Please list your points here so we can decide. // Gargaj 17:19, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
As per episode 61. It does not turn in your favor. -- Psi edit.
- I stand corrected that it's probably not the elite, but I uphold the theory that it might be a third-party. My sole point is that it doesn't sound like Andy. // Gargaj 10:23, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
Yeah Andy keeps on changing his voice. I understand the assumption of the elite laughing. -- Psi edit.
I don't know if it is different on Windows Media Player, or if you are even using QT or Dvix, but I listened closely, and I did not hear any overlap. Also, I listened closely all the way to the end, and I heard the laughter change; the same voice started doing something along the lines of,"Woo-HOO! Whew! HA! HAA! Oh! OHoooh, you're KILLIN me!" ...after which, he continued laughing until he "ran out of breath" and coughed (His AI is obviously programmed to mimic behaviour as closely as possible). This voice is obviously Andy's, and I do think him just screwing around makes perfect sense for his personality. Plus, I have not seen the alien laugh, with the possible exception of Episode 64, which may or may not have been an under-the-breath, muttered, "Honk, honk, honk, honk, honk." Finally, because he is a machine, he can switch between maniacal laughter and yelling out something if he needs to. There, I've said it.
Additional detail for episode 70
editJust wanted to explain why I decided to rewrite (rather than revert) the latest attempt to add additional details to the freezing plains scene in episode 70. reading the original in retrospect, it did seem worthwhile to keep the additional cause-and-effect steps between Tex repeatedly attacking the one Blue soldier and Tucker and company having to run for cover. So I just condensed the wording a bit while keeping the logic. -- TKD 06:43, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Doc and O'Malley
editDiscussing this minor point, since it's been changed a couple of times. "Doc/O'Malley" (or "O'Malley/Doc") looks a bit awkward and probably doesn't lend itself to smooth reading. I clarified the episode 74 summary to note that Doc is still under O'Malley's possession, and thereafter the reader should know that the completely disparate personalities of Doc and O'Malley act through the same body. Since there is a distinction between the two characters, I think it's clearer if whoever is the dominant voice at the time is mentioned (e.g., O'Malley has an awkward moment with Andy; Doc goes to examine Tucker). — TKD::Talk 06:24, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Church being a robot in Episode 73
editThe whole 'Church being a robot' thing may not be true. The church at the new Blood Gulch is one of the past Churches, if you remember correctly. The Church from the beginning of Season 4 is still at Zanzibar. Anyways, I'm not sure if the past Churches are robots or not, but I don't think they are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.251.0.214 (talk • contribs)
- That's not the prevailing interpretation. When Church mentions "past" to the mostly blue Simmons, that is an indication relative to the future — i.e., he means the "present" in absolute terms. This has been discussed in the past; see Talk:Red vs Blue/Archive2#Adding events to season summary during production. — TKD::Talk 00:13, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
LOTR references
editAre the nods to LOTR backed up by the DVD commentary or somesuch? I know it's pretty obvious, but that of course doesn't really cut it here.--Drat (Talk) 11:47, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not as far as I'm aware.--Dac 05:40, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
