Talk:Regions of Slovakia

Latest comment: 12 years ago by ZemplinTemplar

I don't think the terminology used in the article is completely accurate. The Slovak term okres has always been translated into English as "district". A related word is okrsok, which means "police district". Kraj can be translated two ways: 1.) "County" - but a county in a generic sence, not a historical county (that would be stolica, župa, etc. - largely analogous to the British terms shire and county). 2.) "Region", "Land", "Territory" - generic enough, but the synonym to "land" is rather similar to the case of the Bundesländer of Germany and Austria (in terms of contextual meaning, not official administrative capacity). I'm deliberately writing my criticisms into the Talk page, because I don't want to edit the article out of the blue: I find it well written, I only mind those minor innacurracies in the English translation/explanation of the terminology. Just my two cents. --ZemplinTemplar (talk) 21:30, 31 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amazing work Juro. Thanks so much. Sorry about the mistakes I introduced. Pcb21| Pete 30 June 2005 07:21 (UTC)
