Local Online Reputation Management

It may be there needs to be a different article focused on "local reputation management" or "local online reputation management," but I feel it would be better to expand this entry to be more balanced and comprehensive. There is already an article on Reputation Marketing which is clearly related and in IMHO should also be expanded. However the Reputation Marketing page, cites this page noting Reputation Management as a key component of Reputation Marketing. This page should be link to Reputation Marketing. There should also be links to Local search engine optimisation which does cover many of the relevant and related topics. Hhawk (talk) 17:47, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Missing Connection to SEO

Reputation Management (RM) is related to SEO which isn't mentioned at all within the article. For smaller single location businesses, and smaller chains this topic is heavily related to local SEO. RM is a critical component of local SEO.[1] Hhawk (talk) 17:47, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Fake Reviews vs. Authentic Reviews

The article presents an in-depth analysis of the impact of fake reviews and their impact on reputation. It doesn't discuss legitimate approaches and reasons to engage in reputation management, esp. the need to requesting reviews; part of reputation marketing. Unbalanced

Like SEO there are white and black hat approaches for reputation management (RM) especially online reputation management. This article focuses more on the black hat side. [1]. As noted by valereee the article seems to be trying to persuade IMHO to this negative or pejorative perspective of RM Hhawk (talk) 17:47, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Outdated

It's an older article that doesn't reflect search engine results pages (SERPs) Circa 2020. Especially for local SERPs, and critically for "find X near me" type of search queries. Reviews left on Google heavily influence Google SERP[1]. Also the important to online reputation impacting how a business appears in SERPs like Google My Business, [[Google Maps, and similar SERPs for other search engines like Bing, DuckDuck.go [2] [3]Hhawk (talk) 17:47, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Google My Business

Reputation Management (RM) is part of Local search engine optimisation (local SEO). Google My Business (GMB) [1] should be discussed within any comprehensive discussion of RM. The article doesn't discuss the impact of Google My Business on local business reputation and the legitimate need for local businesses to request authentic reviews from their customers. Nor similar pages from other search engines.

Many (or even most) US local/state governments (including Delaware[2], California[3], Arizona[4], Harrisburg Pennsylvania [5], Middleburg Virginia[6], and Austin Texas[7], San Antonio Texas[8]) discuss and recommend Reputation Management using Google My Business as part of supporting the health and growth of local businesses.

Local organizations that are not businesses (i.e., local governments) should also manage their RM via GMB[9]. Hhawk (talk) 17:47, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Review Gating

The article doesn't mention review gating. Understanding review gating is critical to any comprehensive discussion of Reputation Management.[1]

Review Gating is: When a business (directly or via a software tool) requests reviews from a subset of customers. Historically often after customers that provided a positive or negative response to a survey.Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page). Power of Review Sites Over Local Businesses

The article doesn't discuss the power that large review sites like yelp, google my business, healthgrades, and others have over local search engine results pages (SERPs) and the legitimate need for local businesses to receive authentic reviews from customers on an ongoing basis.
