Talk:Return to Forever/Archives/2015

Goddamn it. I wrote this article for an hour and then everything disappeared since I probably stroke a wrong key combination that closed the browser window. Well, gotta try again some other day --128.214.205.4 10:01, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Yo. Right now, I'm commenting out your section, because it sounds a bit outlandish and you haven't sourced anything. Nothing personal, it just sounds a tiny bit inflammatory, and proabably shouldn't be at the top of the article. Feel free to uncomment any of it when you have sources. - CorbinSimpson 15:40, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Today's changes

  • Also a couple of famous musicians became first known through their performances on Return to Forever's albums. - which couple? Stanley Clarke, I'm guessing, but who is the other one? I've left this commented out.
  • I've hacked around the "first line-up" section to make a little more sense. The Stan Getz thing isn't clear - is it saying that material recorded in sessions for the first and/or second album was used on a Stan Getz album, or just that several members of RtF played on Getz's album?
  • Claim that the fusion albums sold better than the latin-jazz ones - source? Seems likely, so I've left this in for now.
  • Claim that the fusion albums were "always" in the pop charts - source? Seems less likely, so I've commented this out.
  • Is that big box showing all the different lineups strictly necessary?

I should point out that I'm not an expert on the band at all - I may have made minor mistakes of fact when correcting grammar etc. --ajn (talk) 09:11, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

In addition to Clarke, Di Meola, Purim and Moreira stepped into fame when playing in RTF. Also White nor Farrell got lots of fame from their RTF recordings, perhaps more than from anything else they did (White played on Bitches Brew but he was second drummer and he was not so recognizable on that album for that reason). Though, I don't care about this point really. No recorded material of RTF albums were used on Getz's albums. Just some same compositions and same musicians appeared on Getz's Captain Marvel. According to Allmusic Guide, RTF's jazz-rock albums charted on pop album list but there are not similar remarks about first two albums. Though, I won't be terribly surprised if first two albums had sold almost equally well or better in long run. According to Allmusic Guide, all jazz-rock albums plus Musicmagic went to US pop charts. I did not like big box myself but I left it since somebody had worked it out so I did not want to delete it. --128.214.200.89 12:41, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I removed big infobox since it does not fit well in the article and the same information can be obtained by looking small infobox (which shows all band members) and discography (which shows family names of musicians appearing on each album) --Jarkka Saariluoma 12:51, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Current lineup image

I've just uploaded a photography of the current lineup to commons, just in case someone wants to add it:

tagged for in-line citations - BADLY needed

This article is not up-to-snuff for Wiki standards as far as references. Needs work! When you add material, please reference it at the same time.98.67.2.84 (talk) 21:30, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
