Naming
editI’ve moved this page to “Revision week” (from “swotvac”), as this seems the most suited term. This is because:
- “Revision week” is the more commonly used formal term, it appears, and is easily understood
- “Swotvac” seems primarily used in Australia, and is puzzling for non-Australians/Commonwealth (?) readers
- “Reading week” (commonly used in the US) is ambiguous (can also mean “spring break”), and the institution of a week of studying for exams seems rather more established in Commonwealth countries (in US universities, final exams are only one part of the grade, while in British etc. universities they are often the only grade).
The term “swotvac” itself (as opposed to the activity of studying) does deserve discussion, so I’ve moved discussion of that into a section.

In Canada reading well is really only a university/higher ed thing, and it's definitely not spring break - namely because it's not in spring (reading week is typically in February, some places also have one over Thanksgiving in October) and also because people mostly work through it. It also doesn't precede final exams - that is sometimes a four day weekend at the end of March/early April. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.161.179.225 (talk) 16:54, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
Merger proposal
editReading day really ought be merged with this. They're the exact same, save for the length of time. 164.68.25.210 (talk) 03:30, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Merger proposal
editDead week should probably also be merged: it's a slang term for the same thing taking place in certain US colleges. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.223.8.106 (talk) 23:49, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Proposed merge of Dead week with Revision week
editPer the WP:BROADCONCEPT guideline, one article on the period immediately preceding finals should be enough. These two articles are largely a geographic fork that would be better globalized and presented together. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 04:47, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- Support, for the reasons stated, suggesting Revision week as the target given that it has the more international approach with the greatest number of synonym redirects. Klbrain (talk) 10:02, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 17:31, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
