False lock claim
editPeople need to look at other pages on Wikipedia and note that they all post YouTube links and that the WP:EL does not say that it cannot be included so I got an unsolicited and harassing threat for people unable to read and because a bot that is a bot and obviously should be shut down as it mismarks things and the block on here should be removed as it was falsely placed. - YouTube links, more often than not, are inappropriate for copyright violation reasons. This may be one of the exceptions, since the poster appears to be an official VEVO account. The question then becomes, is a link to the music video useful for expanding the reader's information about the song? —C.Fred (talk) 17:39, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- As C.Fred mentions, part of the concern for the link is if a direct link to the music video is useful for expanding a reader's understanding about the subject of the article. The other question is if it provides anything not already better addressed by existing refs and links. It's the last of these questions that is most relevant to me. The existing metrolyrics.com contains the lyrics, as well as an embedded copy of the same video. If the video is already provided via a different link - there's no need to add it again (ie: Wikipedia is not an internet directory, we shouldn't link to multiple copies of identical content). The final question then is which is the better quality link for our use - I believe that the metrolyrics link is the better of the two as it provided additional details beyond just the video. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 21:10, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
