Length+Diurnal vs Nocturnal

edit

I've been doing some copyediting, cleanup and expansion on this article, and noticed some problems regarding inconsistency between sources, specifically on the length of the snake and whether it is nocturnal or diurnal. Here's what I've found so far:
Length
The article says that the species is a"relatively small snake, reaching a total length (including tail) of up to 72 cm"

Nocturnal vs Diurnal
The article says that the snake is "mainly nocturnal".

Here's what I propose writing regarding each issue:
The Rice Paddy snake is generally between 40 and 60 cm long, but some sources say it can grow up to 72 cm.
The Rice Paddy snake is mostly nocturnal or crepuscular, but one source [2], the Encyclopedia of Life, states that it is diurnal.

What are your thoughts?

And another thing... (common names, profusion of)

edit

I hate to sound pedantic, but according to this source[3], Hypsiscopus plumbea has a profusion of common names, which I note are scattered across the other sources used in the article (i.e., one source uses one common name, a different one uses a different one, and so on.) And yet Hypsiscopus plumbea redirects to Rice Paddy Snake. I understand that Hypsiscopus plumbea was created recently, as there was some taxonomic wrangling regarding the scientific name (it used to be Enhydris plumbea) . However, I propose that this article is moved back to Hypsiscopus plumbea, so that one common name is not chosen over a variety of other ones. Edward-Woodrow (talk) 22:32, 25 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
