How about splitting this article into one about the book and one about the miniseries? Especially since they went their seperate ways after the first season, with the second season not being based on the second book.

Hmm... Iordache is actually a not uncommon Romanian name. I wonder if Irwin Shaw deliberately picked a linguistically improbable name to ensure there could be no real German American with that name who could frivolously sue him for libel.
