Note: Though it states in the Guide to writing better articles that generally fictional articles should be written in present tense, all Tolkien legendarium-related articles that cover in-universe material before the current action must be written in past tense. @Chiswick Chap: found this tribute from David Bratman, which is an updated version of what he posted here. From there, maybe the following could be included? Where Fantasy Fits: The Importance of Being Tolkien and "little-known is that Richard also published a supplement, a selective annotated evaluative list of the best Tolkien criticism of the next 20+ years, published in Modern Fiction Studies in 2004" (not found a direct link yet, but it is described here). There is also the possible book to look out for, and I am guessing an obituary at some point in Tolkien Studies where they will probably issue updates to the checklist done in 2005 ("Richard C. West: A Checklist Anderson, Douglas A. (Douglas Allen) Tolkien Studies , Volume 2 (1) – May 16, 2005"). And from here, it looks like this one can be added: "2014: Tolkien in the New Century: Essays in Honor of Tom Shippey "'Lack of Counsel Not of Courage': J.R.R. Tolkien's Critique of the Heroic Ethos in The Children of Húrin"". Carcharoth (talk) 15:32, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, sorry, should pull my weight! Will try and add when time. It is the fiddly additions that take time which is why I sometimes default to putting stuff on talk pages. Maybe at the weekend. Carcharoth (talk) 15:39, 4 February 2021 (UTC) I see the 2014 Mythlore article is in the references. Some extra details (including his middle name of 'Carroll' which helps when searching some records, and the birth date of 13 August) are in the family obituary here, though not sure how that sort of source is handled. Looks really good. Commented on the talk page. I've finished here, except for trying somewhere to put in the checklist from here. But it doesn't really fit. Carcharoth (talk) 23:30, 5 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
