Childress taking too much credit?

It's claimed here that Earnhardt and Childress formed a "potent combination", but Earnhardt was already a highly successful driver before that. Wasn't Earnhardt the "potent driver" and Childress simply the lucky car owner who happened to hire him? (i.e. it appears to me that Childress's long career only happened because he was riding Earnhardt's coattails.) TooManyFingers (talk) 20:49, 24 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
