editI opened this Bio - as I was hoping to find some information on Richard Head at Wikipedia. So here at least the list of some of his works which made me ask for more. If nothing happens I might have later this September a chance to complete this article, when I will do some research at a bigger library. Sorry for the mess of the provisional hint at materials. Head is an important figure for all who work on the 17th century European novel. His English Rogue became the first English satirical romance to be translated into a continental language. Germans read it as Der Simplicianische Jan Perus after they had just read their own Abentheuerlicher Simplicissimus by Grimmelshausen (wich again modern scholars will read as one of the most important novels ever written. So do not delete Head. --Olaf Simons 10:35, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Categories - English or Irish?
editIt's not really clear to me whether this chap should be described as English or Irish in the categories. Ireland is clearly his "native land" so I've categorised him as "Irish ..." but I am also aware that he spent a part of his career in England (e.g. as a bookseller) and that several sources online seem to describe him as "English". On the basis that he could feasibly be searched for under both "English" and "Irish" categories, I've put him under both, but I have no particular wish to expropriate him for a nationality that he clearly doesn't belong to. Living up to his name
editIs it true that he wrote Mother Shipton's predictions after the events already occurred? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.130.36.221 (talk) 05:38, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Semi-protected
editSemi-protected for a month at the request of User:Olaf Simons. He usually reverts the all-too-frequent vandalism here, but he's a bit busy right now, so I'm doing this to give him a break. - Jmabel | Talk 16:57, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- Five days the usual vandalism, sorry to have failed. I should become an admin on en.wp with the single task to protect this page, whenever I am away for a couple of days. --Olaf Simons (talk) 20:02, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
