The Blank From Hell

edit

I removed the following para:

The honor may go to Matt Groening, creator of Life in Hell or the band Squirrels from Hell as well. [1]

Neither of those examples fit the "the blank from hell" template. If they do, then Shakespeare probably has first dibs on any props that are being dished out:

Be thou a spirit of health or goblin damn’d,
Bring with thee airs from heaven or blasts from hell
Hamlet
No, my good lord; but Pluto sends you word,
If you will have Revenge from hell, you shall
Titus Andronicus

&c.

Does Richard Lewis actually claim to have originated the phrase or is this simply a joke inserted in Curb Your Enthusiasm? (in which case the discussion would be moot) --Polylerus 17:37, 18 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

I assumed it was a joke inserted in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Kevin143 23:47, 2 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

On his documentary CD, he claims that he tried to get credit from Bartlet's Quotations but in the application, he learned that college students coined the term "semester from hell" more than a hundred years ago. Smoove K 11:16, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Filmography

Should we put some of his films here? Thief Lord 23:39, 10 November 2005 (UTC) Why would this be impotant? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.98.167.64 (talk) 17:58, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Diary of a Young Comic

edit

In 1977 former SNL producer Gary Weis directed a TV movie cowritten by and starring a young Richard Lewis as a fictional (but presumably semi-biographical) young comic named Billy Goldstein who moved to LA from New York. This was not a documentary about Richard Lewis. Is there also a 1974 documetary of the same name? I don't want to edit if there is, but I can find no record of it.

Jewish

edit

Since he's listed as a Jewish actor, his religion should be mentioned in the text. Thanks, Maikel (talk) 09:47, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

"He famously locked Joe Matarese and Marion Grodin out of the green room of Levity comedy club."

edit

No evidence on line of such. Even if there were, which I cannot find, this is a minor event, at the very best, not worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia; a joke played on two comedians, neither of whom has shown Wikipedia notability. If no objections, I will take this line out. Adds nothing to his bio, except showing he hangs around with other comics. If no citation given, it will be deleted, thanxMwinog2777 (talk) 04:58, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Drug addiction

edit

Can we not mention his drug addiction along with the alcoholism or is that against the "be nice to living persons" rules here?[1] Joel.sbateman (talk) 01:04, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Uncredited appearance on The Harvey Korman Show

edit

Not mentioned here in the TV section, I saw Richard Lewis in a youtube video of The Harvey Korman Show from 1978. His name wasn't credited. Time 19:15 - Video URL = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1MRPyFOk60 71.182.132.69 (talk) 08:43, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Birth date inconsistency

edit

Could someone explain or correct why I see a different birthdate in the info box and the early life section? They are one day apart from each other. Thank you! Mikepascoe (talk) 17:17, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I fixed it to June 29. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:17, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
