editIt is not correct to call him Danish. It is true that he was born at the Danish island of Als, but 1864 the Island became part of Germany (Preussen). He did all his work and exploration as a German and for Germany. After Als becoming German, many young Danish inhabitans of the island left to study and work in Denmark, but Parkinson did not.
