mostly prescribed with people w/ ibs strictly for abdomninal pain -- although there have been trials to help the diarrhea, they've been mostly inconclusive. there is currently a crohn's colitis test going on with higher doses which looks much more promising (~1200mg/day) -- Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade 11:43, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Approval in Canada
editAccording to this link, this drug (under the trade name "Zaxine") has been approved for use in Canada as of October, 2013, and has been assigned a DIN as well:

It is very expensive
