Poorly written article

edit

Hsu. 386-406, Gray, 135-138.

義和拳 was the name of the martial art they practiced. The group was then renamed 義和 (Militia as opposed to Fist) by the official after their sponsorship. Can someone who edits the wiki put the a tag on? This is un-sourced, poorly written, and downright disgusting.

Modern parallels

edit

The allusion to the 19th century xenophobia of the spiritually-educated Boxers and the Islamic reaction to Western intervention SHOULD be apparent and not in need of ad nauseum exposition. I have placed it back in the article as I did so during my original edit where I attempted to remove some of the eye-watering problems of grammar, syntax and educational content that NO ONE else saw fit to fix prior. I welcome the input of people wiser than me in editing and expanding upon this ideal, but the connection between the Boxers and the Islamic extremists of Afghanistan and Pakistan seem to me to be OBVIOUS parallels. If I am the only one, then I accept the judgment of the collected editors, but 'religious students going to war against Imperialists of different dogmas using terrorists tactics'?? Does that need 400 pages of supporting documentation??

Also worth noting that I'm not in the best place to edit my own grammar right now, so I'd appreciate someone doing some housekeeping until such time as I do it myself. Thus the weakness of Wikipedia is exposed.  ::shrug:: Sipfan (talk) 14:06, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ku Klux Klan

edit

I find "Further parallels would be accurate in examining the Boxers as Chinese equivalents of the Ku_Klux_Klan" sounds a bit offensive to Chinese people. Since when did KKK want to protect white people from some kind of black Imperialism trying to conquer their countries, impose their religion, kill their people, exploit their lands, rape their women, sell small girls for prostitution or give you free opium if you buy a Bible? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Honam (talkcontribs) 14:36, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

There are alternate opinions about this history. Such as the the Boxers being a loyalist movement and not anti-Qing.
