AEK League games

edit

The infobox is supposed to include league games and goals only, please do not include his european matches with AEK.213.5.126.197 01:08, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why was the olympiacos badge deleted?Rivaldo is palying there and it should appear as long as he stays there.

I reverted your edit. I'm sure you mean well, but this article is supposed to be a biography on Rivaldo in general - the badge puts too much emphasis on Olympiakos imo. If other editors agree/disagree with my reason to revert then let us know. Igorrr 13:14, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

So if we put all the badges of the teams he used to play for in row plus olympiakos badge it would be better?

That would be more representative of his entire career, I agree. As long as the emphasis is on the player as opposed to one club, then anyone should be able to contribute to the article as they see fit. Although putting club logo's into articles seems inconsistent with other football biographies so I don't know if and how other users will react. Igorrr 14:29, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Name

edit

Is Rivaldo part of his birth name or not? I have seen conflicting sources.SaskatchewanSenator 01:14, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could anyone add in the article an explanation why his nickname is Rivaldo?--24.138.26.251 05:49, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, I found his full name: RIVALDO VITOR BORBA FEREIRA. Source: [1]--24.138.26.251 06:04, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's not a very conclusive reference. The front page of the same site[2] says "Welcome to the official website of VITOR BORBA FEREIRA RIVALDO". Here is a reputable site that indicates Rivaldo is not part of his full name.[3]--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 09:30, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Minor vandalism

edit

I have removed the small, illiterate assertion that this player has joined Leicester City FC. It appeared to be a 'practical joke' with out any joke involved, and even if meant sincerely, it was completely unsubstantiated.Grubstreet (talk) 18:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed - the Leicester City FC article has suffered similarly. Now semi-protected for 7 days to let the silliness end. Qwghlm (talk) 18:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tiverton Town

edit

I found no sources, reliable or not, indicating that Rivaldo transferred to Tiverton Town F.C.. It is better to find a source, otherwise that info will be removed. --Carioca (talk) 21:32, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Bunyodkor

edit

Here I will explain my revert of the edits of the IP user.

  • The edits done by the IP user contain numerous weasel words, such as "superbly", "superb", "dominant" etc. To maintain a neutral point of view, the existence of such words is clearly unacceptable.
  • What is more, most of his edits are not supported by any sources, such as Rivaldo being the highest paid player in the world. WP:BLP has the following to say about the matter:
"All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion. Users who constantly or egregiously violate this policy may be blocked from editing."
Therefore, the IP user bears the burden of finding the sources to support his edits. Per WP policy I cannot be faulted for reverting his unsourced edits.
  • The IP user did support one sentence (on Rivalso scoring a poker) with a source, but it does not qualify as a reliable source. The source provided is an article written by a user on a forum/whatever with no credibility. I have attempted to find reliable sources on this but to no avail.Craddocktm (talk) 03:40, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Whatever, sorry I called you a donkey. I will try to find some sources.95.68.37.33 (talk) 17:26, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, and there are still some left in the article - e.g. ;the zenith and the nadir' - the problem with Wikipedia articles on footballers is that they are often written by people aspiring sports journalists who are practising journalistic writing and not the encyclopediac style Wiki articles should follow. 209.35.94.61 (talk) 19:58, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit war

edit

Hello, I've been in recent edit war in this article with user:Marcospace and his several ip's. At the beginning it was fun, but now i'm tired of this and want to end it. Conflict is about 2 details: Rivaldo's alternate position and his present club Sao Paulo playing years. He is continuously undoing long standing registry about Rivaldo's alternate position as a second striker, but in these:[4] [5] [6] reliable sources you can see that irregularly he can be attached as a second striker. Also his new club loaned him from Mogi Mirim for a 1 year and another year optional[7]. That doesn't mean that user can remove "–" from "2011–" until contract is expired, not renewed, or terminated, right? Thanks. Good luck! 95.68.54.202 (talk) 00:02, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Both of you please stop edit warring. If you don't think Rivaldo should be listed as a second striker please explain why not.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 18:12, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
User Marcospace is still editing previous mentioned edition and isn't explaining it here for more than 20 days. It's not the way how to get consensus.46.109.56.5 (talk) 01:30, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am just tired of this. Several portugese language country ip's all this time are undoing discussed content without consensus made here.95.68.63.16 (talk) 22:10, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
