Reason for redesignation?
editIs there a reason for the redesignation of this ship class from River class to E class? If so, can it be elaborated on in the article? I assume that it had something to do with the creation of the Australian River-class torpedo-boat destroyers, but have no sources to back it up (and if so, add it there as well as here, please?) -- saberwyn 07:32, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
- It was part of a general redesignation of all destroyers into Alphabetical classes - the 27 knotter "turtleback" torpedo-boat destroyers became the A-class, 30 knotters became the B class, C class and Class, with the Rivers becoming the E class, the Tribals the F-class etc.Nigel Ish (talk) 19:08, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
