Monks Bridge
editThe article says ...
- It is navigable for just over a mile from Monks Bridge (over the A1036 road)
Aquaducts carrying canals over roads are not unknown, but carrying a river over a road on a bridge is extremely unusual. Is this a mis-speak?. -- Chris j wood 18:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- No response, so I shall assume a mis-speak. -- Chris j wood 11:00, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Assessment
editThis needs assessing by someone other than me, because i have done the major re-write. Unlike the Yorkshire Project which has its own assessment page, the river project doesn't, so i am unsure what the protocol is.Rimmer1993 (talk) 22:35, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Merge of another article into this one.
editIt has been suggested to me by User:GuillaumeTell that there is case for merging the Bridges over the Foss section of the Bridges of York article into this one. I agree with this, but a consensus is needed. Comments please.Rimmer1993 (talk) 14:29, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Criteria for 'Main Tributaries'
editHi, I'd be interested in including links to pages that cover some of the tributary streams and becks in York - How have those on the list here been selected? Chronotopian (talk) 19:08, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- I suggest that you get in touch with Rimmer1993 (talk), who added the tributaries and constructed the diagram. --GuillaumeTell 21:04, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Foss or floss?
editceltic origin would say Fluss or floss. could there be a 'l' inside? Wikistallion (talk) 19:29, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- No, because the origin is Latin from Fossa, meaning ditch or dyke. The same can be said about the suffixes of Catfoss, Fangfoss, and Wilberfoss.[1][2] Sorry. The joy of all things (talk) 20:37, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
