editThe reference to Breidden rally has been corrected due to a very common mispelling of the rally name.
Was there ever an Abergwesyn Rally? Numerous events used (use) the Abergwesyn road but an Abergwesyn Rally?
- I think you're probably right - I wrote that, but my memory is very hazy now. Perhaps I was thinking of the Sarn Helen, etc? Graham 23:45, 17 May 2005 (UTC)
The piece refers to the RACMSA. It's been the MSA for quite a number of years now.
I altered the piece about closed roads to mention the Tour of Mull and Jim Clark, both of which are run on closed roads in the UK. Ewan 14:51, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
There doesn't appear to be any information on this side of the ocean (The 'States) in this article. I don't have the knowledge necisary to add this, so I'll just bring it to the attention of those who do. --Kinkoblast 19:30, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- From what little I know of US road rallies the only similarity is in the name. I think they are a relatively low speed event more like a treasure hunt in the UK. Agree though a reference to and description of should be added 80.192.241.153 01:52, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Page move
editI've put in a request for this article to be moved back to Road rally. This is the Primary Topic (see WP:PRIMARYTOPIC) and the move should not have been done without discussion. Any need to disambiguate with PEANUTS Road Rally can easily be resolved through the use of a hatnote. France3470 (talk) 15:00, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
Gumball 3000
editThe Gumball 3000 isn't a Road Rally but an illegal road race. I don't know enough about the Bullrun to comment, but it certainly sounds similar Ewan (talk) 23:36, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
Wa wa wa, grass roots street racing is illegal regardless. It’s generally accepted as a North American rally deal with it. Willedit4food (talk) 09:29, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
UK Bias and Quality
editThis article is entirely focused on road rallies in the UK. It could include all the rally types such as Targa, pan-am, Monte carlo, Gimmick rallies etc that are popular world wide. Secondly, there is so much conjecture in this article that needs removing there would be very little left afterwards. I will attempt to improve it so will remove anything that cannot be cited. --Rally Wonk (talk) 21:55, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
Redirection to Rallying
edit- This article is written in a personal tone and includes many of one author's opinions (IMO it stands as testament to one authors rallying activities)
- This article takes an inferred definition of road rally to mean speed tests on public roads, which although never having been legal in the UK not being the point, is still incorrect.
- Special stage rallies are still road rallies
- "Historically all rallies were road rallies"... but now they're not because this definition is applied? This makes no sense.
- This article has no reliable sources, because so much of the information is incorrect
I tried to improve this article, but after removing the opinion and wrong statements, there is no content to include that isn't covered on Rallying. I would redirect to Rallying, unless a suitable use for this article can be found, however will turn this into a disam page because of the peanuts thing. I will welcome the discussion if anybody disagrees. Rally Wonk (talk) 18:43, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
