Does not play for Global FC
editAs I've tried saying before, Gier does NOT play for Global FC. He even tweeted this on March 27. Ya.... that really is playing for Global FC in the Philippines isn't it?!? lol!! Banana Fingers (talk) 14:49, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, he didn't play for them, but he clearly SIGNED FOR THEM!! AND THIS MEANS THAT HE SHOULD GONNA BE INCLUDED ON THE PLAYERS LIST OF GLOBAL!! So your trying to say that, if a player signed for a club but doesn't have appearance for them, and this mean he is not a player for them? WTF!! Cyrus35334 (talk) 03:03, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- And if that's what you're trying to say, how about Csaba Somogyi? He is a goalie for the Fulham FC but has no appearance for the club, BUT HE IS INCLUDED ON THE CLUB'S PLAYERS LIST!Cyrus35334 (talk) 03:16, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hahahaha!! That's an extremely poor attempt at a comparison in situations! Not even close!! Banana Fingers (talk) 14:45, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Picture proves nothing. Maybe he had a free day. :) Sources say he signed there, thus it stays in the article. -Koppapa (talk) 07:41, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- He is listed on the United Football League website as a Global player (see [1]). Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be an official club website - the "Wordpress" site I added to the infobox doesn't apppear to be official and hasn't been updated since last September or so. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:50, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, here is the proof that Rob Gier signed for the Global FC. Link 1. And you can also visit the official website of the United Football League where "Rob Gier" is on the list. Link 2 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyrus35334 (talk • contribs) 13:26, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
That's another thing..... Did he actually sign for them?!? It's just a report saying that he joined them. The player himself hasn't even confirmed anything. Take a look at fellow Philippines international Jeffrey Christiaens. He made an appearance for the same club a few months ago but he never signed for them now did he? Should he be listed as a Global FC player?? I don't think so! It's practically the same situation with Gier! Here's another example.... again, another fellow Philippines international, Jason de Jong. Philippine media has reported that he already signed for Scottish side Ayr United. Yet nothing in Scottish media has confirmed anything... So what are people gonna do? Believe the Philippine media? And then if you do a little digging De Jong has yet to sign for them (which I just found out) [2]. Again, its the same situation with Gier. Reports say one thing, but the player themselves hasn't confirmed squat! Banana Fingers (talk) 14:51, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Reliable are RELIABLE! There's nothing you can do with it! Who the fu*k are you, GOD? WTF!! Here it is:
"National players Rob Gier, Joshua Beloya, and Simon Greatwich are among the prominent new names on United Football League rosters when league competition begins this Saturday.
The Filipino-British Gier, a valuable defender for the Azkals, has JOINED powerhouse Global FC, which finished second in the league last season."
So what the fu*k you know with the word JOINED? Now, if Rob Gier JOINED the Global FC, so he SIGNED FOR THEM!!! And it says there that Rob Gier, Beloya and Greatwich are among the prominent NEW members on United Football League rosters. And if you know the word NEW, then it means they have a deal with them to make them the NEWest players on United Football League rosters!!!! Cyrus35334 (talk) 00:29, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- Do you know how to read?!?! I've said that the player himself hasn't confirmed anything! That should be a no-brainer! Again, like I've said, reports are one thing, but without any word from the player, reports mean squat! And "Who the fu*k are you, GOD? WTF!!" Excellent choice of words. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Banana Fingers (talk) 21:11, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
There are four users here in agreement that he should be listed as a Global player, plus users Bernejay [3] and Drmies [4] in the article make six, and only one against. Therefore, by consensus, I am restoring the information regarding Gier being a Global player, which Banana Fingers has removed multiple times. 7 March 10 March 17 March 18 March 25 March 25 March 30 March 31 March. If it transpires the information is false, we can change it later. Note that Verifiability, and not truth, is one of the fundamental requirements for inclusion in Wikipedia; truth, of itself, is not a substitute for meeting the verifiability requirement. per WP:V. - Alright... do whatever the hell you people want! So much for Wikipedia trying to be provide reliable and ACCURATE info. Oh well..... pfff. Banana Fingers (talk) 19:14, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Is he even in the country?
editThere's an option where he can't be playing for Global nor Ascot United. It's called free agency. Usually, news for signings explicitly state that he was "signed" and not merely "joined." For all we know he joined Global for a couple of practice games, just like what Beckham did with ARSEnal a few years ago. Case in point, in yesterday's Army vs Global match, Rob Gier wasn't in the squad list. That's really odd for a national team player, isn't it? –HTD 14:49, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- Here are Global's matches in the UFL website that had squad lists; all of them did not list Gier either in the starting 11 or as a possible substitute.
