Martin Sheen - guest star?
Is this true? That Martin Sheen was only supposed to be a guest star? Is there a source for this? --Rebroad 19:25, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, If you refer to the season 1 DVD commentary Sorkin discusses how Martin was only supposed to appear occasionally. I believe, if I can remember correctly, Sheen was only supposed to appear every month or so. It is titled the West Wing for a reason.
- Well I'm glad they didn't do it that way, as the show wouldn't have been as good. Anyhow, I think this source is good enough to leave this part in the article. (Bjorn Tipling 05:30, 5 November 2005 (UTC))
Oscars
Why is there no mention of his dance number on the Academy Awards when he did some "racey" moves with a Snow White actress? Disney wasn't too happy. There should be a mention. Kwyjibear (talk) 23:53, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

WP:BLP violations
Content that discusses sex controversies and/or allegations of violations of law, etc. absolutely cannot remain in an article of a living person. This has been removed from the article. Do not return the material without citations. Wildhartlivie (talk) 07:54, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Sex video
There are contradictions in:
Lowe gained notoriety in 1988 after a video of him having sex with two women, one of whom was underage, became public. He had met the women at a bar while in Atlanta attending the 1988 Democratic National Convention, and later claimed that he didn't know one was underage, and that it was reasonable to assume that someone in a bar was of legal age. The video that was widely circulated was not the one with the underage girl and her lesbian hairdresser girlfriend but that of a threesome with a model called "Jennifer", a young friend called "Justin Morris" and the actor himself. The home video was shot in a hotel room in Paris. Lowe was sentenced to twenty hours of community service.
Please will someone familiar with the facts in these two cases untangle them? Thank you.. Andy Mabbett 22:24, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
American "scandals". I can't understand where is the scandal. Americans seem to consider "sex" for itself as a kind of scandal, probably because of the bad influence of those strange medieval groups living in the past known all over the world. Lowe made sex with two girls? Lowe made sex with a model and an other guy? Lucky man! Val from Europe

- All the material on this was removed? And don't say American "scandal", underage sexploitation is very serious, no matter where you are. MMetro (talk) 04:09, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- She was 16, which is the legal age of consent in Georgia. It's the law that's stupid for making the filming of a legal activity "kiddie porn". 72.152.230.36 (talk) 23:29, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Filmography Incomplete
There's a movie or TV production missing. Lowe plays the part of Dr Corbin, an orthodontist, that is eventually found guilty of two counts of murder in the apparent suicide of his wife, and an ex-girlfriend in college. In the beginning, his wife Jennifer (?) is divorcing him because of an Internet relationship with a man named Chris that turns out to be a woman called Marion. I don't remember the title. That's what I came here looking. Deep Atlantic Blue (talk) 20:06, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
DO people on wikipedia hate him
seriously a thousand flattering pictures and you just have to put the worst one. Also, his birthdate is wrong--how exactly does one perform in a 1983 movie when they're born in 1986? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.122.161.196 (talk) 07:03, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- The birthdate was because of a recent vandal. It has been fixed. Thank you. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 05:48, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Melissa Gilbert's Memoir
I'm not sure that when citing Rob Lowe's ex girlfriend's memoir, Prairie Tales,in the family and relationships section, it is adequately communicated to the reader that it is an allegation made by her, rather than fact.
"The two stars got back together only to break up several times. Lowe broke up with her again in 1986 when he started dating Princess Stéphanie. As soon as this relationship ended, Gilbert and Lowe dated again. The two became engaged and were to be married in the summer of 1987. Gilbert then found out she was pregnant. After telling Lowe this news, he broke up with her for good. She miscarried only days later.[11]" Piscesgirl311 (talk) 20:21, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Peyton Manning report
Bongwarrior, when you can cite a source showing that the report of Peyton's retirement isnt true, ie from Peyton himself, feel free to Undo my edits. Until then they remain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.132.152.205 (talk) 08:30, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, that isn't how Wikipedia works. And you should probably be aware of Wikipedia's three-revert rule. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:35, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- He is not a "part time freelance sports journalist" because of one speculative tweet. That is just totally ridiculous and incorrect. And from the very source you provided: "Lowe's 'report' appeared to be inaccurate after several interested parties weighed in Wednesday." The tweet happened, sure: but it's clearly incorrect, and Lowe is certainly no free-lance sports reporter. Doc talk 08:38, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
Doc. Lowe is good friends with Colts owner Jim Irsay. When Irsay was directly asked today by the press to clear this up and assure them Manning was retiring, his response was "no comment". From source: When he was asked about the controversy before a meeting with the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association downtown, he declined the comment, saying he wanted to focus on the Super Bowl. “I’m not commenting about Peyton or the team right now. I’m doing this speech so I have nothing to say about anything regarding those situations,” Irsay said. http://www.theindychannel.com/news/30243534/detail.html 74.132.152.205 (talk) 08:48, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- The "part time freelance sports journalist" thing is not supported by the source, and I removed it accordingly. It's a conclusion you drew, which is called original research. Until you can find a reliable source that backs up this new career of his, it needs to stay out. Doc talk 08:50, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- Isnt a "part time freelance sports journalist" someone who reports sports news part time for free? Didnt Rob Lowe do just that today? Do you have another approved definition I should be using? He broke a scoop and published it in a 21st Century web based news dissemination medium. Seems fairly clear to me. 74.132.152.205 (talk) 08:58, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- "Freelance" does not mean working for free. It doesn't mean that at all. And he is not a freelance sports journalist, part-time or full-time. Drawing your own conclusion about that is original research, which we do not allow here, especially in biographies of living persons. Doc talk 09:00, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- A "free lance" was a knight for hire. Someone who does something for the love of it is an amateur. Someone who reports something they happened to hear is a gossip.
What's best for the article is to report what happened, and not to interpret or pigeon-hole it. Such analysis needs a supporting citation. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:26, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

underage - clarify?
The text about the sex tape mentions that one girl was 'underage' and then says she was 16. Is 16 not a legal age for sex in the United States? It is in the UK and most of Europe. Or are we refering to an age for making pornographic videos here?--217.203.143.219 (talk) 00:14, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you click on "underage" in the article, you will get a general explanation. Although I don't know the details of the case, she would have been considered underage (under 18)within the context of a sexual relationship with Lowe because he was an adult at the time.OwenSaunders (talk) 02:08, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell from Ages of consent in North America#Georgia, it is legal for anybody 16 or over to have sex with a 16 year old assuming consent, at least as of 2013 (and assuming no "sodomy" occurred, because they still had those laws in 1988). I presume it's referring to the act of creating the tape (the article doesn't say who created it, but a source says Rob Lowe did), which would presumably be illegal as porn involving participants under 18 is child pornography (again, as of 2013). The article should state clearly what crime he is alleged to have committed, or remove the assertion that one of the women was "underage", because "underage" by itself isn't specific enough. I was unable to find a good source so I leave that as an exercise to the reader. --holizz (talk) 17:08, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Beginning section of Rob Lowe's page
The beginning section of Rob Lowe's page talks about how he is a "subway sandwich artist". It doesn't say "Rob lowe is an actor". This is clearly wrong and someone put that in there as a joke. Please fix it. Thank You! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.124.21.48 (talk) 06:49, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
CONDESCENDING SOUND SPELLINGS
Do you people think the rest of the world are so stupid they can't pronounce a name as easily spoken as Rob Lowe? You people are out of control. I cannot believe how insulting this site has gotten in recent years. You people think we're morons! My brain is still processing how you could think we are incapable of pronouncing Robert Altman. This is disgusting and highly offensive. Wikipedia has crossed the line.--24.186.96.236 (talk) 04:39, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

memoirs and live show
Hi there, I'm new to this, but I came to Wikipedia looking for info on when he did his first performance of Stories I Only Tell My Friends Live. Should his two memoirs and this subsequent show be mentioned on his page? Or am I off the mark? --2603:9000:7106:7BF8:C8C0:C5A0:3C0F:D6F4 (talk) 04:07, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
Main character of West Wing?
I'm not sure anyone except Lowe himself considered himself the main character of the pilot. The majority of the plot deals with the question of whether another character will be fired, and the fallout from that character's mistake. Has Sorkin said anything to back up Sam Seaborn being the main character in the pilot? 85.76.10.53 (talk) 18:04, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
