Cause of death of Mr Ammann?
editDoes anyone know the cause of death of Mr Ammann? Degrassifan 21:57, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
First simple examples
editNot to limit Ammann's amazing contributions in any way, but it does not seem entirely true that his aperiodic sets of tiles were the first simple examples not to involve the golden ratio; Robinson's set of six tiles is simple enough— though not as simple as Amman's later examples. Made an edit.
Also, what does this mean:
Ammann invented pentagonal and octagonal tilings but his achievement came to notice only after Penrose had published his own discovery and gained priority.
The terms octagonal and pentagonal tilings don't have any meaning, and it is quite well known that Penrose's original tilings were found in 1972.
Also, worth mentioning Ammann's Heesch number 3 example.
