Source correction
editJust a heads-up: A section from The Complete Peerage (Edition 1, Volume 6) used for Margaret Barry's parentage has an error. The Oxford Dictionary mentions three generations of David de Barry: The 5th Viscount of Buttevant, his son who died in 1605, and a grandson who because 1st Earl of Barrymore. That source is correct. The Complete Peerage accidentally labels the middle David as the 1st Earl, which leads to Margaret mistakenly being placed in the wrong generation. She's a daughter of the elder Barry (no pun intended), not his granddaughter. The dates wouldn't work if she was from a generation later. —Torc. (Talk.) 22:06, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- Dear User:Torc2. Thanks for your interesting remark. Indeed, Cokayne (1895) 411, line 11 writes "He m. firstly Margaret, sister of David, 1st Earl of Barrymore, da. of David (Barry), Viscount Buttevant [I. [Ireland]] by his first wife Ellen, da. of David (Roche) ...", which is wrong because Margaret is an aunt, not a sister of the 1st Barrymore. I edited the article by adding her father, the 5th Buttevant on the family tree for clarification and easier navigation. I hope you find this an improvement. I think we do not have any dates for Margaret or have you found some? Nice to chsat with you. With best regrds, Johannes Schade (talk) 06:56, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
