Fact

edit

Mr Carr: I hope youre not supressing an historical fact. The ballet was filmed in Melbourne-the only one I know of Eric A. Warbuton

Why would anyone censor the fact that it was produced in Melbourne? Your edit, as it stands, is far from pretty and apparently irrelevant. No wonder it was first deleted!

However, this "only ballet ever filmed in Melbourne" sounds interesting. Why don't you find a source and write a paragraph about it? That probably wouldn't get deleted. --fuddlemark 19:57, 18 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Catcher small.jpg

edit

Image:Catcher small.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Lyrebird

edit

I put a link to the Wikipedia page about Lyrebird in the main article about Helpmann. The external link isn't really appropriate in a page about the man himself. And I've tried to get to http://www.lyrebirdtalesofhelpmann.com/ many times but I have yet to manage to get there -- SteveCrook (talk) 12:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The link works now -- SteveCrook (talk) 02:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Tales of Helpmann (documentary)

edit

Does anyone know of the documentary The Tales of Helpmann? Possibly where Tyler Coppin got the title of his one man show from? It was shown a few times on the Performance Channel in the UK but I don't know many details about it. It's essentially Sir Bobby's life story. It includes interviews/clips with: Frederick Ashton (clips), Margot Fonteyn (interview + clips), Stewart Granger, Katharine Hepburn (interview + clips), Vivien Leigh (clips), Keith Michell, Rudolf Nureyev (clips), Laurence Olivier (clips), Margaret Rawlings, Moira Shearer (clips), Michael Benthall (clips + home movies) -- SteveCrook (talk) 02:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, a wonderful documentary directed/produced by Don Featherstone, 1991 or 1992. I believe Mr F distributes it himself and has a website and with copies for sale. It was nominated for a World Emmy some years ago. I have heard Tyler Coppin was inspired by the documentary and subtitled the LyreBird stage show after it. Auzstars (talk) 06:36, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I could only find it offered on an ABC site that offers it for AU$88 per copy. That's a bit more than I was expecting :) -- SteveCrook (talk) 15:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Active years?

edit

I found it curious that his active years surpassed his death without apparent explanation? Regards Cinderella157 (talk) 21:58, 8 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Film & TV actors often take part in a production which then isn't released for a year or more after they've completed their contribution. So it can be released after their death -- SteveCrook (talk) 23:00, 8 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I am raising this as a reader. I accept that this might be the case, but without any detail to explain (that I could see), it appears anomalous. As a reader, I would expect a note of explanation where the apparent inconsistency occurs and the note would have brief but specific detail eg, 'Appeared in Film title, released [release date].' Cinderella157 (talk) 23:28, 8 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

As a reader you can also be a contributor. If you find anything to be confusing or ambiguous then you can correct it -- SteveCrook (talk) 09:01, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

GA class

edit

This article looks to be at least a GA class article to me. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:53, 1 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

That's very nice to read, my dear Ss. I may possibly put it to the test and nominate the article. Tim riley talk 18:55, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
