Question Re. Multiple Issues

edit

Hi,

I've been editing this article on the composer Robert Paterson, and the following messages were added:

This article is an autobiography or has been extensively edited by the subject or an institution related to the subject. (July 2015) This article may rely excessively on sources too closely associated with the subject, potentially preventing the article from being verifiable and neutral. (July 2015)

I have reviewed and edited all of the sources (I was an anonymous user before taking the time to register), and they are verifiable. I am not related to the subject, BTW.

Re. adding citations to the works on the works page, what would you suggest? If I link to the pages on the composer's site that clearly indicate that the work exists (this is what living composers do, BTW, they have lists of their existing works, They are obviously not lying about whether the works exist, and that can't possibly be true of the works have performance history.

The other option is to link to the publisher site, proving that the works exist, but the catch 22 is that can be misconstrued as promotion.

The final option is to link to reviews. In that case, most of the works have been reviewed in reputable papers such as the New York Times. So, is that the best option?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello @VictoriaNYC:
  • {{autobiography}}: When you were editing as an IP, I was concerned that you were Robpaterson (talk · contribs) since that user also made some edits to the article. If everything is written from a WP:NPOV, then this tag can be removed.
  • {{third-party}}: This was added due to use of the Official website as a source. I think NYT reviews would be better; however, I may have added {{Unreferenced section}} unnecessarily to the Complete works section. The EL to the official website should be sufficient if all of his works are listed there.

Thanks, JJMC89, I am still getting used to the system, That was me, the unsigned IP address. Re. Robpaterson, that wasn't me, but from what I can tell, that user added technical information (a side bar with statistical information), so I think it's fine. I will go ahead in the next few days and add references that are not from the official website when available.VictoriaNYC (talk) 15:14, 6 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
