This article has been carrying a clarification tag regarding the use of "Italy" as a destination for convalescence: "Italy was not unified until 1848-1871, so it should be noted which country that existed at the time he intended to travel to if that information is available". I am removing the tag as the precise political destination seems less than relevant for an invalid, and because the term "Italy" can be seen in use prior to unification, for example in Jonathan Richardson's "An Account of Some of the Statues, Bas-Reliefs, Drawings, and Pictures in Italy".
