The names Pullus and Pullen appear to be used indiscriminately. Francis Courtney explains some of the confusion [1] and titles his book "Cardinal Pullen". Marcia Colish refers to him as Pullus, then cites Courtney as a source for other information. So which is it? Mannanan51 (talk) 02:15, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

As the link above shows, Pullus was a contemporary and later latinisation on his name. Given that the language on the church was (an to some extent still is) Latin, it seems perfectly reasonable for theologians and clerics to use the latinised form. So, certainly the same person so should be merged; I don't have a strong opinion on the direction, but prefer Pullen on the ground that it's the name that Oxford Dictionary of National Biography uses, and given that both pages define him as "English", this seems a reasonable criterion.
