Roberto de Oliveira (soccer) appears to be a duplicate of this player. As this page does not have a qualifier, I believe it should be the main page for the player. @Davidlofgren1996 and Michaelwallace22: --dashiellx (talk) 21:16, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Dashiellx: Good catch. I was unable to find this page when I created Roberto de Oliveira (soccer) back in 2020 (possibly because of the misspelling) hence the duplication. As there is another footballer with this name (Roberto Oliveira (footballer, born 1980)), as well as a disambiguation page here, would it be worth merging the two articles (Roberto DeOliviera and Roberto de Oliveira (soccer)) and renaming it Roberto de Oliveira (soccer, born 1955), as to distinguish? @Davidlofgren1996:I would defer to someone more knowledgeable on the player and how he spells his name. I would imagine 'DeOliviera' is an Americanization of his family name, but I wouldn't want to assume the player would prefer de Oliveira without a source. --dashiellx (talk) 13:28, 20 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Dashiellx: I don't think it's an Americanisation, as all of the sources I've found (on Roberto de Oliveira (soccer)) have his name as Roberto De Oliveira. The question would be rather: is the De capitalised. DeOliviera is a misspelling, I'm certain. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 16:20, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Davidlofgren1996: Images of his jerseys don't show the "de" and this team shot shows DeOliviera, but this one shows De Oliviera. --dashiellx (talk) 16:40, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Dashiellx: The spelling on the article has the i before the e, this was my main issue with it. Even the two sources you have provided have the e before the i, which I believe to be the correct spelling. The issue now is how to format the "de", whether it would be "De Oliveira", "de Oliveira" or "DeOliveira". Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 17:20, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Davidlofgren1996: LOL...I didn't even notice the i before the e, I was too focused on "de O", "DeO", or "De O" --dashiellx (talk) 18:26, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Dashiellx: Haha no worries! Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 18:28, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Redirected the stub with the agreed error (nothing to merge); the change of 'de' can be left if no-one is particularly concerned ... Klbrain (talk) 00:09, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
