Seeing that Dr. Kornman is one of a few Tibetan scholars to have had taken up the challenge of translating the Tibetan Gesar epic into English seems reason enough to allow an article about him to stand. Dr. Kornman had been a close student and friend to Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, worked as the principle editor and translator of the Rain of Wisdom (Shambhala Publications Inc.), was a scholar-in-residence and Kluge Fellow, was asked to lecture internationally on the topic of Buddhism, primarily the Tibetan form and practice, all of which has contributed to the intellectual enrichment of Sino-Tibetan studies.
