Introduction

edit

The introduction to this player needs a little rephrasing in my view, as his clothing seems of little relevant comparative to the rest that is said yet is the second sentence of the article. It seems more of an after thought piece of additional information. Thoughts/suggestions?

Umlaut

edit

An umlaut is a typographical sign signifying a letter "e" immediately following the vowel over which the umlaut appears. When the umlaut is unavailable for use, it is thus correct to use the "e", as in Soederling. To put it another way, Soederling is correct, while Soderling is not. Why, then, does "Soderling" redirect to this main page, while "Soederling" does not?C. Cerf (talk) 16:21, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is only in German that one can replace an umlaut with an extra letter 'e'. This typographical convention does not exist in Swedish, where the 'ö' represents a particular vowel, not a modification of 'o'. The same sound is written 'ø' in Norwegian and Danish. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ö#Letter_.C3.96_in_Scandinavian_languages for more details. --78.148.19.215 (talk) 13:05, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mistakes in career

edit

There are several mistakes in the career part:

  • Söderling was not in the juniors final at the US Open of 2002
  • Xavier Malisse is not a Dutchman, but a Belgian

2010 French Open result

edit

Can be added to the list of his best finishes in GS events after it's played. It should not be added that 2010 he finished as a finalist, because that's not true. Saying "F" means he appeared in the finals and lost. Enigmamsg 01:21, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I do not find the statement about what languages his sister speaks interesting to most of the readers. It only makes a very naive impression about the article.

Career High Incorrect

edit

In the french open Final, Soderling was a No 5 seed, but now it says that being a no 6 seed is his career high? I think that is incorrect.--208.103.244.45 (talk) 21:00, 9 June 2010 (UTC

    • That is correct as he was #7 in the world but was seeded 5 due to DP and Davy being injured. He is at a career high in the rankings KnowIG 07:31, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Sigh...

edit

Stop changing his ranking to 4 in the world. He is not 4 in the world and won't be until tomorrow afternoon. This is reflected in the career timeline thingy on the right hand side. Until then, it is ridiculous to keep changing the introduction to say he's 4 in the world because he isn't. Please stop doing this as it makes Wikipedia look like a hack job. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.111.107.109 (talk) 21:57, 14 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
