editUmmm. Joan Jett did not write "I love rock n roll". It was written in 1975 by Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker of The Arrows. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.76.148.22 (talk) 08:39, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Random appearances/name-dropping
editThis article includes an extensive listing of assorted appearances and bands the band has "appeared with"/"shared the stage with"/"once were in the same airport as".
By way of comparison, let's take one of the other acts listed and see how their article differs. I chose Guns n Roses because I happened to remember them being mentioned. Their article mentions a few notable tours (e.g. Use Your Illusion Tour), notable incidents at individual shows (e.g. Riverport Riot) and appearances at notable concerts (e.g. The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert). There is not an extensive list of every notable band they have ever been within two miles of. It also does not mention every appearance on TV. (If Rock Sugar played in the background during a local news spot, we'd have a lengthy section on it.)
If, instead of trying to build an encyclopedia, we tried to make Guns n Roses sound like the most-bestest-band-evr, we might list random concerts, drop lots of names and say things like the unsourced "gained a fair amount of critical acclaim" (removed from this article) and the howlers removed from Jess Harnell: "highly acclaimed world's first Pop/Metal mashup rock band", "Rock Sugar has played on some of the biggest bills in the world, opening for such rock luminaries as...", etc.
Thought experiment: Two bands appear together. If the appearance is noteworthy, it will be noted in both band's articles. If it is only mentioned in the lesser known band's article, is that because it is noteworthy or is it being used to build up the lesser known band? - SummerPhD (talk) 14:08, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
New Album
editRock Sugar has released a new album called "Reinventinator", which was funded through Kickstarter. Since they weren't allowed to sell the album, they used the Kickstarter to fund a 'treasure hunt' to get the music. 198.84.181.12 (talk)
