rayleigh scattering or absorption
editI think it would be helpful if someone could identify whether the blue color denoted in glacial lakes and rivers is a more of a rayleigh scattering phenomenon or an absorption phenomenon. I believe it would be a rayleigh scattering phenomenon as the rock particles should not absorb red light and no matter what rock the glacier erodes the color tends to remain the same blue-ish. However there could be some colloidal absorption I am not aware of.
