Blanking

edit

@DrBMChase: Please stop blanking 95% of the article. Your distaste for the removal of the copyrighted material does not give you the right to blank the rest of what has been added. If you don't like it, improve it. I will again restore the article. Do not WP:edit war. Please take some time to learn Wikipedia policies. Note that you do not own the article, Wikipedia owns it communally. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:09, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Considering that the edits were made blindly by non-experts and result in information so incomplete as to be erroneous, I am making an effort to improve the article accordingly. If others were able to delete the vast majority of the contribution without knowledge of the subject, I would suggest that I should be allowed to delete other information that is incomplete/misleading. If, however, they would like to improve the page by contributing, rather than just deleting information, that would be most welcome for everyone. DrBMChase (talk) 12:24, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would also like to clarify that I am not deleting anything that anyone else has added. I am deleting material that I have added that has been subsequently inexpertly edited and severely diminished in quality and accuracy. DrBMChase (talk) 12:36, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
None of this matters. An article you have edited is not yours. Do read and understand our policies. WP:OWN is a policy. WP:Edit war is a policy. Read them and understand that your actions are outside of policy. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:39, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have read and understand the policies you cite, and am only seeking in removing the elements of my own text that has been rendered misleading by subsequent partial deletion and the removal of key information. If you choose to retain incomplete and misleading information without due consideration that is your prerogative. DrBMChase (talk) 13:19, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@DrBMChase If key information is missing, the project is better served by discussing that information, and where we can find reliable sources to support it, at the article's talk page. Deleting sourced information, when there is no other policy-based reason to, causes net harm to the project. —C.Fred (talk) 00:42, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@C.Fred. I entirely agree, which is why the material I submitted to create the page was carefully written and referenced. The extensive subsequent deletions (80% of the material) have left a partial and potentially misleading accounting. I was only removing the remainder of the material I had written to avoid any confusion through the subsequent removal of important context and links to reliable sources.
