World's Largest non-Chiming clock?

edit

The article states "Because the octagonal faces are nearly twice the size of the faces of London’s Big Ben, chimes were never added in order to allow Big Ben to remain the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world. Both towers held their respective titles of largest clocks in the world until the completion of the Abraj Al Bait clock tower in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. "

Does this mean the A-B Clocktower still holds the record for largest non-chiming Clocktower (presuming the Abraj Al Bait is now the largest CHIMING clocktower)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.52.38.22 (talk) 19:09, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think that the quote you referenced has to do with the size of the clock, not the size of the tower. The ABCT might be the second-largest clock *tower*, but in fact, Big Ben lost its title when the Minneapolis City Hall was finished over 100 years ago. Its clock has four faces, and each is larger than Big Ben's. And yes, it chimes. As to the Abraj Al Bait, I can't find any references as to whether it chimes or not Merenta (talk) 23:36, 1 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
