Stallone credit for the book of Rocky musical

edit

Hi Blethering Scot,

Please forgive me if I've got this wrong, but I'd like to avoid an unnecessary revision war regarding Stallone's credit for the Rocky musical (unfortunately soon to be closing on Broadway). You reverted my correction despite my citing three ironclad sources (namely the play's official website, Playbill, and Variety). Look for example at the Playbill link at http://www.playbillvault.com/Show/Detail/14010/Rocky, which makes very clear that Stallone was co-credited for the book and co-nominated for the Outer Critics Circle award for "Outstanding Book of a Musical". That jarringly conflicts with the listing for this same award on the wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_the_Musical prior to my correction. I understand that Meehan took the lead at adapting Stallone's film script, but every official source gives Stallone co-credit for the Book (e.g. http://rockybroadway.com), so I don't understand how Wiki can contradict these official citations.

Thanks in advance for your consideration of the above points.

Your the one that is reverting, so actually you aren't trying anything to stop a revision war lets get that very straight from the outset. The book is not by Stallone, he wrote the screenplay which was adapted by Meehan for the book. So yes part of the book contains Stallone's work but it is not accurate to say it was co-written, it is however accurate to state the book is by Meehan, and was adapted from a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone. That is what the page states, it also states Stallone was a producer which again is correct. Eligibility for an award is decided by the awards themselves not us.Blethering Scot 12:47, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi Scot - I've returned from seeing the final Rocky performance on Broadway, which was tremendously entertaining but its premature closing was bittersweet. The Playbill clearly listed Stallone as co-book writer. I took the linked photo from over the door of the theatre, which advertised, "BOOK BY 3-TIME TONY AWARD WINNER THOMAS MEEHAN AND OSCAR-NOMINATED SCREENWRITER SYLVESTER STALLONE" at http://solmaker.com/public/RockyBookByMeehanAndStallone.jpg. I don't understand why you are so sure that Stallone had no hands-on involvement collaborating with Meehan on the theatrical book for which Stallone is officially credited by theatres, Playbill, award committees, RockyBroadway.com, etc. I've seen with my own eyes the theatre credits and Playbills that contradict your edits on this point. You seem to be an intelligent editor who cares about the truth, so I ask you to please reconsider. In peace, Solmaker (talk) 00:30, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
