Edit requests
editPardon the wall of text, but would someone mind making the following edits to this article? Edits requested by article subject; I'm just the messenger:
- "founding trustee of the Prince of Wales’s American Foundation", remove "American"; foundation's proper name is the Prince of Wales' Foundation
- "fellow classicist Prince Charles", revise to say "His Royal Highness Prince Charles" (preserving link); use of proper form of address
- "Congress of the New Urbanism", include link to the Congress of the New Urbanism (Wikipedia link in-line as full phrase; Wikipedia article is New Urbanism, and https://www.cnu.org/ in the References section); access to further information
- "Presidents John and John Quincy Adams", include link to John Adams' Wikipedia entry as hyperlink through "John", and preserve separate for JQA; access to further information
- Remove link to Wikipedia article for DC, and any other geographic location where it appears; reduces clutter of links
- "National Civic Art Society", add link to society website https://www.civicart.org/; access to further information
- "historic plantation plain-style Tullie-Smith House", add link to Wikipedia article "Tullie Smith House" on house name; access to further information
- "National Trust for Historic Preservation Prize", if the Trust has a website, add link in References; access to further information
- "Newington-Cropsey Foundation Gallery of Art", change "Gallery of Art" to "Museum"; proper name of the museum
- "His Gallery of Art design", change to "This gallery of art design"; "Gallery of Art" doesn't need to be capitalized here, and IMO "This" sounds better than "His", even though both could be correct
- "discussed the rebuilding of Historic Mims Park in Atlanta", create link to YouTube video at URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-mOPqlQEoo&t=94s; Video owned by NMF and copyright is correct for this use
- "testified before Congress", create link to YouTube video at URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoLFOu1g9Qc; Video owned by NMF and copyright is correct for this use
- "Emily Cook, a commercial photographer, is responsible", edit to read "Emily Cook, a commercial photographer, is on the Hubbard Board of the National Geographic Society, and is responsible", and add link to National Geographic Society Wiki and website; further detail and access to further information
- "The park was originally set to be named", change "set" to "intended"; just sounds better
- "Rodney Mims Cook Jr.'s ancestor, Livingston Mims, who built the park in 1899", add "Mayor" before "Livingston Mims"; use of proper form of address
- Remove "the Vine City community asked", and correct grammar ("the Atlanta City Council to change" becomes "the Atlanta City Council changed"); correct factual inaccuracy and ensure proper grammar
- "The Mims name is contentious, since Livingston Mims was a Confederate officer, and the park is again to be situated in a predominately African American neighborhood.", remove entire sentence and convert to parenthetical "A former Confederate officer" after "Mayor Mims" in the phrase "despite Mayor Mims having built Atlanta's first integrated park"; sentence feels out of order as currently stands, and parenthetical flows better
- End of Recognitions section: add "Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, bestowed the Order of St. John on Cook in 2019." and append link to the Order of St. John on that phrase (Wiki in-line, and URL https://www.saintjohn.org/ and/or https://www.sosjinternational.org/ in References); access to further information
- Add link to Fox Theater website in "He is on the boards of directors of the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation, California, The FOX Theatre Inc., the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art" at "The FOX Theatre, Inc."; access to further information, and Wikipedia article on Fox Theatre already linked in article higher up
- "The City of Atlanta honored Cook's family and their service to the city and the State of Georgia in December 2011.", link YouTube video at URLs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41O03gg94sI&t=394s and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94K4jXUMmGE, in that order; resolution presentation ceremony in 2 parts, videos owned by NMF and copyrights are correct for this use
Thanks! I will submit further requests for more additions as more come up 12.163.219.138 (talk) 16:54, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- "Pardon the wall of text" is never a great start. If you are being paid to edit here, then you must make the appropriate disclosures, and then after you have done that, it is best to use a template to request edits, making sure each request is clear, has appropriate references, and abides by editing guidelines (and I would suggest making one or two requests at a time - we are not in a rush here, and the rest of us are volunteering our time). A number of the dot points above ask for the adding of external links which will not be done, or adding extraneous detail which reads as promotional (e.g. the subject's wife's board membership) which also will not be done. Poor citations
editI removed a bunch of primary sourced material from the lede, but the rest of the article is going to need pruned as well. I don't have time to comb through it all today, but I'm already seeing YouTube videos and sites which do not appear to satisfy WP:RS throughout this article. — The Hand That Feeds You:Bite 17:56, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- HandThatFeeds, I ended up reverting it back to a version from the end of last year, before an IP added a huge amount of puffery, most with very dubious sourcing. BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 13:52, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Works for me, thanks! I'll look over the version you reverted to later, I'm still concerned some of the awards might be non-notable. — The Hand That Feeds You:Bite 13:54, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- I removed a lot of stuff that was sourced to blogs or was just about non-notable awards received. With what's actually left I think this could probably just be merged into National Monuments Foundation, so I've suggested a merge at Talk:National Monuments Foundation#Merge. —valereee (talk) 16:29, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
