- Comments
- Infobox:
- We don't need to have references in the infobox, as the facts are covered in the article
- The medals are not linked to the articles, so most readers won't know what they are. Use text links like in the MilHist articles. Leave the astronaut wings out
- Lead:
- Link Grand Rapids, Michigan, Eagle Scout, Central High School, Naval ROTC, Illinois Institute of Technology, Phi Kappa Sigma, Purdue University, ensign, Naval Air Station Pensacola, T-28, T-34, and A3D, Heavy Photographic Squadron 62, Cuban Missile Crisis, Air Medal (the first time it is used - and why is it qualified with "Navy" the second time?), Capcom, Gemini 3 and Gemini 4 (Note that the Lead is separate from the article.)
- "at the then Cape Kennedy Air Force Station" Could be more specific and link to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 34?
- Per WP:EUPHEMISM, change "perished" to "died"
- Early life:
- Link Greenville, Michigan.
- Don Chaffee (1910–1998) We don't use that form on Wikipedia. Remove.
- Same for Blanche. Do we have a maiden name?
- Done (I don't have a maiden name, I'll look through the beginning of that book and see) (Update: can't find maiden name) Kees08 (talk)
- I've added it for you. Hawkeye7 (talk) 21:21, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
- Done (I don't have a maiden name, I'll look through the beginning of that book and see) (Update: can't find maiden name) Kees08 (talk)
- Did he have nay brothers or sisters?
- "The family spent the next seven years in Michigan" At Greenville?
- Drop the bit about becoming an Eagle Scout, as this already and more logically in the next section
- Boy scouts:
- Education
- Need to introduce the abbreviation NROTC
- "enrolled at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Chaffee performed well at the Illinois Institute of Technology" Remove duplicated term
- Use the USS template for the USS Wisconsin
- "Fall" -> "fall"
- "he was hired as a teaching assistant in the Mathematics Department to teach classes to Freshman" Who was Freshman?
- Link Phi Kappa Sigma the first time it appears after the lead
- Family
- I'm a bit iffy about the birth dates for living, non-notable people; but since NASA publishes it, meh
- Navy service
- Use the USS template for USS Lake Champlain, USS Saratoga
- Link T-28, T-34, F9F cougar, aircraft carrier, A3D, Second VA-44 (U.S. Navy), RVAH-3, Cape Canaveral, Guantanamo Bay, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Air Medal
- "In 1961" Split the paragraph here
- Any idea when he was promoted to Lieutenant (jg) or Lieutenant?
- NASA career
- Link Mercury Seven, Grand Canyon, Reno, Nevada, Extravehicular activity, Apollo spacecraft, Gemini spacecraft, North American Aviation, Downey, California
- Where is Fairborn, Michigan? Do you mean Fairborn, Ohio?
- "NASA Headquarters in Houston, Texas" NASA Headquarters in in Washington, DC
- Accident
- Aftermath

Working through these. Kees08 (talk) 01:57, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
@Hawkeye7: I have gone through all of your comments now. Let me know if you have any additional comments, replies to my comments, etc. Thanks! Kees08 (talk) 19:42, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
- I've added a bit, and goone over it one more time. Passing now. Hawkeye7 (talk) 21:21, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
- One important change: I could find no evidence that Chaffee was a test pilot (ie graduated from Patuxent), so I have removed it from the bio. Hawkeye7 (talk) 21:38, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
