Succession box
editThe succession box showing Cecily FitzJohn having succeeded her husband as earl is incorrect. The earldom fell into abeyance upon Roger's death until 1199. Author Jennifer C. Ward states that Roger's eldest sister Margaret of Hereford exercised lordship of Hereford as a widow. She also received the hereditary Office of Constable. Her son was invested as Earl of Hereford by King John in 1199.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 09:12, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
