Is he currently Commissioner??

They say he is the new commissioner, yet I hear he won't take over until Tagliabue retires and in a NFL Network Press Release will happen before the Regular Season starts.--Jerluvsthecubs 23:27, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I just changed the phrasing and added a link to this story on CBC.ca that says he expects to begin work before the beginning of the regular season. I'd have been surprised if he was hired effective immediately. -- Plutor 11:28, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Election

The section dealing with his election as commissioner contradicts the lead paragraph. The section suggests the final vote was 23-8, while the lead says unanimous. The sources support the lead, with SI.com saying 32-0, meaning the Raiders did not abstain as the section claims. I couldn't find any support for the vote totals for the first 4 rounds of voting in the sources; anyone know where that information came from? -- Jonel | Speak 21:08, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Age Discrepancy

His birth year is given as 1959 yet his high school graduation year is given as 1971. Not possible 24.211.5.191 04:16, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Failed to protect players due to petty, minimalist greed

Most of his actions to "protect the shield" from Spygate, Bountygate, and the player conduct suspensions have already been met with criticism, so any content regarding criticism is already mixed into the article. Why not add a section on Brett Favre and how Goodell chose to look the other way and do nothing until Favre decided to retire? Had a "normal" investigation been conducted about Penisgate, Favre would have been suspended for his contribution to the Jenn Sterger scandal. Instead, the red-headed knob chose to do nothing and simply sat on the investigation and do nothing until Favre retired. Preferential treatment is not good in the quest to "protect the shield."

i.e. replace "Goodell" with "the NFL" in that sentence. The referenced source does not mention Goodell by name at all, but does say that "the NFL viewed" and "the NFL had access"; therefore it is inaccurate to use Goodell's name here. Edheitz (talk) 00:02, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

I've also noticed, maybe because the article was semi-protected since 2010, that there have only been 100 edits to the Goodell article since December 2012. That's pretty low, given his high profile and his involvement with many player-related issues.
