New Logo?
editSince the Rogers Arena logo seen in the article itself is well.....outdated, i've been thinking of the current logo being edited onto there. If that logo im thinking of is outdated, maybe keep the one currently on the article..? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koikoishi (talk • contribs) 04:55, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
Suggested Move
editShouldn't this page technically be at General Motors Place? TJ Spyke 20:32, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

WWE banned reference
editA reference is sorely needed for the WWE banning. I don't doubt it's true but we need it backed up. The reference I reverted was an obvious copy of parts of an older version of this Wiki article from sometime around mid-August 2006. We need a reference from a media outlet or directly from canucks.com. None of my Google searches have turned up anything. Fourpointsix 18:34, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
I found something on it but I don't think it's too reliable. [1] KingRaven (>$.$)> (talk) 11:08, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:GMPlacelogo.jpg
editImage:GMPlacelogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy Proxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Canada Hockey Place
editJust wondering if anyone has an objection to listing Canada Hockey Place as an alternate name, since we know that will be the official name used during the olympics? JewStone (talk) 03:04, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Renaming to Rogers Arena
editThis CBC article states that "Officials did not reveal [...] when the renaming would officially take effect." As such, the move should be reverted until this is clear. To me, it seems perfectly reasonable that Rogers receives the naming rights at the beginning of the 2010-2011 NHL season (ie, in September) rather than immediately. -M.Nelson (talk) 22:35, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- On the other hand, this Vancouver Sun article states that signage is being changed immediately, implying that the official change has taken place. I see no problem with leaving the article as it is (under Rogers Arena), as long as we cite that the name change was announced July 6, rather than effective July 6 (which is dubious per CBC). -M.Nelson (talk) 22:56, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'd say wait a day or so, and if it becomes evident from reliable sources that the name change is not to be official within at least a week, then move it back to the oither name. It might be a good idea to get the move feature locked for this page for the duration to prevent move warring. - BilCat (talk)
- Keep it for now. In Philly, the Wachovia Center may or may not have been renamed the Wells Fargo Center a week ago. The best reference is internet rumors [2] and a blog post from the the daily news beat writer [3] (Who may very well be using internet rumors as sources himself). ccwaters (talk) 10:43, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

- This article states that it is "an immediate name change"; "The building is now called Rogers Arena." Should be fine as is. -M.Nelson (talk) 23:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Arena nicknames
editAnybody have a different source for the nicknames? As far as I can see, the only source is fan comments on the one article. Personally I've personally never heard Cable Box or Phone Booth used; the one I've heard the most has been "Roger's Arena" (for Roger Neilson). Not like it matters that much. The new naming rights haven't really had time to allow a widespread nickname to become established.209.121.55.249 (talk) 18:23, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
I find people just call it 'the Arena' now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.180.199.227 (talk) 19:18, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
I deleted the arena nicknames because it is absolutely uncharacteristic of what fans or residents of BC call the arena. The source itself is outdated and completely irrelevant. These were suggested nicknames in a news story that was written when the name change was announced. No one and I mean no one refers to Rogers Arena by these nicknames. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.218.46.25 (talk) 01:57, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- So you're saying that nobody has ever referred to Rogers Arena/GM Place as "The Garage"? █ EMARSEE 02:24, 24 January 2013 (UTC)`
People did refer to GM place as the Garage and that reference is still in the article. I was referring to the "phone booth" and "cable box" nicknames that were at the very top of the article in the first sentence. Those are the nicknames that I deleted. Do you know anyone that refers to Rogers Arena by either name now? Enough said. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.218.32.196 (talk) 23:03, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Significance of Lady Gaga
editWhy is Lady Gaga singled out out of all the other concerts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.69.163.63 (talk) 18:27, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Pepsi Live
editI've been seeing a lot of concerts being promoted as "Pepsi Live at the Rogers Arena". There isn't much info on the website about it. It just redirects to PepsiCo website. It this a venue within the arena? A different seating configuration?50.152.18.168 (talk) 22:28, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Entertainment and sporting events sections
editThe noteworthiness of some of the events listed in the entertainment and sports sections is questionable. My suggestion is to narrow it down to about ten core events encompassed in one section without the major expansion of information.
Ivancurtisivancurtis (talk) 08:18, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
I've reverted to an older version of the page, removing the massive expansion of entertainment acts on the article. If the user that wants to make these additions insists on having a list of every entertainment act that has ever played Rogers Arena, they can make a standalone page for that express purpose. It seems inappropriate as part of this article.

seating capacity
editWhen I searched Rogers Arena I was trying to find the seating capacity of the stadium. Which obviously changes per venue, but it may be a good stat. I would have been interested in facts about the stadium besides the information already included, which is great. 184.65.216.213 (talk) 03:36, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
