Merge the parish articles?
editI note that a majority of the parishes in this diocese have a separate article. That is unusual for Wikipedia and in most cases, the parishes look like they would not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Most of them have not been updated or substantially edited since their creation in 2006. I am inclined to redirect most of those articles into this article, with merging of essential information (such as schools), while retaining any that appear to meet notability criteria. Any comments? --MelanieN (talk) 17:20, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Support. That sounds sensible, and I certainly support all schools being identified here. As to the merging of any information from such articles, were you planning to limit that to RS-supported text? Also, do you think that as a general matter it might make sense -- where there has been no showing of notability and notability is not apparent from accessible RSs, and the article is either a redlink or redirects back to this article -- to unlink the primary schools in this article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by epeefleche (talk • contribs)
- I will try to eliminate all the redlinks/circular links at the time, if I do go through with this. As for merging information, most of the parish articles do not have any Reliable Sources, and they haven't been updated in several years; however, I might merge things like the date of establishment, which is likely to be correct even if not sourced. This article already lists the parishes by city of location. The parish articles have a lot of information in infoboxes (somebody really worked hard on these articles!) - personnel and committees and such, which is quite likely out of date and which I would not merge. I believe all the parishes are already listed at this main article; some of the primary schools are not but should be. --MelanieN (talk) 00:28, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Title: San Jose?
editIn the title the name of the Diocese is given as "San Jose", whereas the article gives it (correctly, I think) "San José". Rename? --Malcolm77 (talk) 10:35, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
- The diocese uses the accent mark inconsistently. For example, the previous logo included a prominent accent mark, while the current logo does not (though it could be explained as a consequence of setting the name in all caps). The Valley Catholic uses the accent mark in its masthead and throughout the pages of print issues, but the diocese's main website generally does not. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 09:12, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
