And before the 700s?
editThe article on Pope Mark indicates that he issued a constitution empowering the Bishops of Ostia to consecrate Popes. That was in 336. Surely there must be some data on the said Bishops prior to the list currently given in this article. --Haruo (talk) 03:34, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- There sure is. There's material in a book written by Ferdinando Ughelli, with a second edition by Nicolas Colet. It's called Italia sacra, and it's written in Italian. Volume I was published in Venice in 1717. The list of bishops of Ostia begins on page 50. You could also use Pius Gams, Series episcoporum ecclesiae catholicae (1873), pp. ix-vii. I'm shocked to see that in six years since the question was posed, nobody cared to find any data. --Vicedomino (talk) 02:36, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
