A fact from Ronnie Boon appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 19 October 2008, and was viewed approximately 463 times (disclaimer) (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Ronnie Boon scored all the match points for Wales when their rugby team finally broke the "Twickenham bogey", beating England at Twickenham after 21 years and ten failed attempts?
If it's correct, I think it's well worth placing in the article. It does all appear to fit so well, how sure are you regarding it? ...by the way, I'm impressed by the info hunt on the above. FruitMonkey (talk) 19:18, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Chances of someone with precisely the same name seem pretty remote - it's not like he's Arthur Smith or something, and the lcoation fits too. What surprises me is that it's still not clear if he actually served in WWII, whcih would seem likely given the timing, but maybe he coutned as a reserve occupation. Well he would be 30 (right age), but he would be a teacher. I thought teachers could enlist but weren't drafted. May be wrong. I agree with you regarding the coincidence of them being different people. Seems like the same guy. FruitMonkey (talk) 21:57, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's what I meant by a reserved occupation, though since he was still in the TA reserve of officers, he could have been caught up in the general mobilisation of the TA, had he still been an active member of a TA unit at the time, I suspect he would have been activated as part of that, regardless of his job. I'm not clear enough on the details of the mobilisation to be sure though. We're happy enough to pu tthe info in though? David Underdown (talk) 08:29, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
