Onwer/mgr of Le Hibou in Ottawa in '60s
editI just finished watching CBC's The National's documentary on Hawkins, sadly profiling his 30 years in poverty since the 60s heyday of Le Hibou, the Ottawa tavern where he hosted Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Dylan etc etc and the whole '60s parade, many of whom have gone onto great fame...while he had to resort to driving cab for the last 60 years. I'm not sure what date it aired on, tonight was the year-retrospective (it's New Year's Eve and I'm watching TV and wikipedifying......)....so on a whim I looked up this article and found no mention of Ottawa, Le Hibou, or his since-60s career driving taxi in the national capital. Lots of mentions of Toronto, though.....Skookum1 (talk) 03:04, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure you're talking about William Hawkins (songwriter and poet).- tSR - Nth Man (talk) 16:37, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Move to Canada
editSo uh, when did you say he moved to Canada? Sometime between 1958 and 1964. If he was a non-permanent resident before 1964, was he "moved here" or not. Please clarify. George Slivinsky (talk) 14:17, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Why is he listed as American only, since he's moved to Canada and has lived there since 1959? I believe he even has Canadian dual citizenship. It seems odd, because when you look at Neil Peart's biography on wiki, it lists him as Canadian/American even though he obviously isn't American, even though he has resided in LA only the last few years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.5.151.93 (talk) 05:18, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- I changed the attribution to American/Canadian. Seemed appropriate since Hawkins has resided in Canada for a large portion of his life. I'm also assuming some of the honors bestowed upon him are exclusive to citizens of the country. Obviously, any enterprising editor finding this to be at fault may revert my edit at will.THX1136 (talk) 01:21, 29 December 2019 (UTC)

Hawks/Levon Helm Sextet/Levon and the Hawks/Canadian Squires/Bob Dylan and the Band timeline
editI'm copying this out of the article. It's rather specific for a lack of sources, so I'm hoping someone has a biography that can fill it in. Also, is there a reason for including the timeline beyond Hawkins parting ways? - Floydian τ ¢ 01:28, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
